Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized

An employee worked as a Community Worker at a County Mental Health Services Facility. The employee had been performing community outreach duties and providing services to the severely ill, including homeless individuals. The employee worked on a team supporting physicians and a psychiatrist. At the time, the employee had been working and carpooling with a coworker who later tested positive for COVID-19. Upon discovering the positive result, the employee did not report to work and went for a COVID-19 test on July 20, 2021. On July 21, 2021, the employee received a positive test result for COVID-19 and quarantined at home. On August 1, 2021, the employee was hospitalized. The employee had not been vaccinated at the time. He was admitted with an acute respiratory infection associated with COVID-19. The employer did not have an effective COVID-19 Prevention Program in place.
