Investigation Summary

An employee was working at a general medical or surgical hospital. She worked as a patient sitter. She had allegedly been exposed to a COVID-positive patient on or about July 18, 2021. She worked on the 19th, was off on the 20th, and never returned to work. She called in to quit on July 22nd. The employer had not been aware that the employee had contracted COVID, that she had symptoms of COVID, or if or when she was hospitalized. She died on or about August 1, 2021. Her employer learned of her death when the health department notified the hospital on August 11, 2021.
