Investigation Summary
At 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2021, an employee who worked in an adminstrative position at a hospital died due to COVID-19 infection. Six coworkers had been hospitalized with COVID-19 infection at the time of the employee's infection. All of the ill coworkers worked as either nurses or office staff at the hospital. Just before contracting COVID-19 the nurses were working with patients and the office staff worked on paper work within the Emergency Department. On January 7th, 2021, the hospital reported the COVID-19 outbreak within the Emergency Department to authorities. The source of the outbreak was not established, but the number of coworkers testing positive for the COVID-19 numbered in the low hundreds.
