SKIDDING TREE FROM WOODS - PULLED LODGED TREE ONTO EMPLOYEE

EMPLOYEE #1 HAD HOOKED A CABLE TO THE LOG TO BE SNAKED. AS THE LOG WAS BEING SNAKED BY A TRACTOR, IT APPARENTLY STRUCK A LODGED TREE. THE LODGED TREE FELL AND STRUCK THE EMPLOYEE. HE RECEIVED A BROKEN LEG AND HEAD INJURIES. THE TREES HAD BEEN CUT THE PREVIOUS DAY. LODGED TREES WERE ALLOWED T0 STAND OVERNIGHT. THE EMPLOYEES WERE NOT PROVIDED SAFETY SHOES OR HARDHATS.
