Investigation Summary

An employee was a janitor providing cleaning services in the office area of a building. Half way through his shift, human resources approached him concerning that he was possibly exhibiting of symptoms of COVID and sent him home to get tested. Two days later the employee was checked into a hospital for COVID-19. The employer had one confirmed case of COVID-19, and the employee was out on quarantine. The employee worked an off-shift with no interaction with other employees from 4 a.m. - 8 a.m. and had very minimal contact with staff from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The employee did not work with or have any contact with the quarantined employee. The employer had all COVID-19 protocols in place per the emergency temporary standard and was conducting its own contact tracing. The employee died of COVID-19 at 11:30 a.m. on May 10, 2021.
