Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee worked as a Emergency Medical Technician for an ambulance service. The employee worked in a station awaiting emergency calls and responded to those calls when they were received. The employee also performed cleaning and preparation of response equipment. Emergency duties included performing medical intervention and transportion to local hospitals for treatment and operating the ambulance truck. On July 8, 2020, the employee was hospitalized. The employee died on July 30, 2020. The employer did not conduct any COVID-19 screening checks prior to employee's entering work and no physical distancing was observed between employees in the station. A coworker had also tested positive for COVID-19. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are not included in the narrative.
