Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee reported working on Monday, February 22, 2021. The employee went through the plant's COVID-19 screening process upon arriving at work. The employee did not register a fever and reported no symptoms during screening. The employee worked from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., doing his normal job as a shipping supervisor, which included overseeing forklift operators on the shipping dock. At 11 a.m., the employee said did not feel right, so he left work. On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, the employee went to see the doctor, who did a COVID-19 test, and the test result came back positive. The doctor sent the employee to the emergency department and was admitted to the hospital. While hospitalized, the employee had another COVID-19 test, which also came back positive. The hospital discharged the employee on February 26, 2021. On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, the employee went to the emergency department due to worsening symptoms. The emergency department treated and released the employee. On Thursday, March 4, 2021, the employee went to a follow-up appointment with his family physician, who sent the employee back to the hospital. The employee remained hospitalized, and on March 18, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., the employee died from COVID-19 cardiac arrest while still hospitalized.
