Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee had worked as an Assistant Manager at a grocery store. The employee worked the front end of the store managing the cashiers. On January 5, 2021, while still at work the employee developed a dry cough and runny nose. On January 7, 2021, the employee was tested for COVID-19 and continued working up until January 11, 2021 when he received the positive test results. The employee left work early that day. On January 15, 2021, the employee was hospitalized and remained in the hospital until he died at 9:25 a.m. on February 2, 2021, of COVID-19 related pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. The employer did not have an effective COVID-19 Prevention Program in place.
