Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee had worked as a Forklift Operator for a towel and tissue manufacturer. The work area has both assembly and distribution areas, where employees distribute products to retail and other markets. The employee's job was mainly to move boxes containing products in the distribution area. At 8:00 a.m. on December 17, 2020, the employee was hospitalized and died on the same day. While he was working, the employee was observed operating the forklift as he typically did each work shift. The employee didn't report any symptoms while at work according to coworkers. The employee last worked on December 4, 2020, was tested on December 9, 2020, and was reported positive for COVID-19 on December 11, 2020. The employee was hospitalized prior to his passing. The employer did not have an effective COVID-19 Prevention Program in place.
