Investigation Summary

Employee #1 was working as a property manager for a housing corporation when he contracted COVID-19 and was hospitalized on December 15, 2020, to the time of his death on January 9, 2021. Employee #2 was working as a maintenance technician working for employee #1 when employee #1 informed him that he had COVID-19 on December 13. Employee #2 started to exhibit symptoms and also tested positive for COVID-19. Employee #2 reported that he always wore a face covering and that he maintained at least 6 feet social distance while he was working. Employee #2 received COVID-19 safety training from the employer and also ate at a table during lunchtime at least 6 feet away from employee #1. Employee #2 recalled using the same computer employee #1 used on December 9, where he placed orders for his job tasks for approximately one hour. Employee #2 did not recall wearing gloves, sanitizing his hands or the computer at the time. Employee #2 also did not recall employee #1 wearing gloves and sanitizing the computer after he used it. After employee #2 tested positive for COVID-19, it was discovered that his wife, son and stepmother also contracted COVID-19.
