Investigation Summary
On November 22, 2020, an employee who had been working at a pizzeria died from COVID-19. The employee last worked on November 15, 2020, taking orders and preparing pizzas for delivery. On that date while still at work, the employee began experiencing signs and symptoms related to COVID-19 and he left work early. Prior to the employee's death, coworkers had tested positive for COVID-19 and/or showed signs and symptoms related to COVID-19. The workplace layout made social distancing challenging, no physical barriers were utilized, and face-covering usage was inconsistent. In March of 2021, the cause of death was ruled to be complications related to the COVID-19, including of severe acute respiratory syndrome.
