One employee with COVID-19 infection dies and another is hos

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on February 1, 2021, Employee #1 was working as a Center Director for the clinic along with a coworker and Employee #2. All three employees worked together at the clinic from January 12 - 15. The coworker and Employee #2 worked together on January 18. Employees #1 and #2 worked together from January 20 - 21. The employees were required to quarantine after positive tests. Employee #1's position was reported by the employer to not have direct patient contact as a normal duty. Employee #1 was reported to have her own office, normally conducts computer/phone-related business. In addition, Employee #1 had direct and/or prolonged contact with clinic personnel. In January 2021, the medical center had a COVID-19 outbreak among coworkers. A coworker tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19 on or about January 18, 2021. The coworker's illness was not determined to be work-related. The employer deemed the coworker's illness was not work-related following contact tracing and risk assessments. Employee #1 died on February 1, 2021. Employee #2 was hospitalized and treated for COVID-19 related illness.
