Investigation Summary
At 4:35 p.m. on January 22, 2021, an employee who had worked at a day program for developmentally disabled adults died from complications related to COVID-19. The employee was exposed to an individual who subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. The employee became ill and went to the emergency room 6 days after the exposure and while waiting for the result of a COVID-19 test. The employee was hospitalized and while in the hospital was moved in and out of the ICU becoming well enought to be moved to a regular room and be scheduled for discharge. However, he died from reported adult respiratory syndrome and a heart related issue 23 days after admission.
