Investigation Summary

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on February 4, 2021, the investigation involves a teacher and four teaching assistants who shared an otherwise empty class - teaching being conducted remotely over the internet. The teacher was located in the center of the classroom and was COVID-19 negative and without symptoms. The remaining four employees sat in the four corners of the class +6 feet from each other - all tested positive during the two weeks of winter break. One of these employees who had underlying health conditions was hospitalized and died from COVID related illness. On December 31, 2020, the school was notified about 1 positive result from an asymptomatic employee with last school attendance on December 18, 2020. They started doing contact tracing in early January for this cohort who were isolated to a classroom and had minimal contact with any other colleagues. No one became ill until after the school closed for the Christmas holidays. During the holidays, everyone dispersed to their homes with visiting relatives or went to stay with relatives and all four assistants were COVID-19 positive.
