Investigation Summary

At 2:47 a.m. on January 22, 2021, an employee who worked was an Office Technician for a State contractor licensing board died from COVID-19 related pneumonia. The employee had primarily teleworked from home. December 10, 2020, was the last day she was physically in the office. On December 26, 2020, the employee had reported COVID-19 related symptoms and she was tested on December 29, 2020. On December 30, 2020, the employee received a positive test result and she was hospitalized on December 31, 2020. According to thye employee's family member, she was treated in the emergency room on December 23, 2020, due to a non-worked related health issue. At 5:40 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020, she had stated "If I do come back positive the doctor said it probably came for me going to the emergency room because I was perfectly fine other than my normal issues I was having with my muscle atrophy so he thinks if I am positive it came from there." (Her comments were entered into the narrative exactly as she had sent it). The employer conducted contact tracing and did not identify any COVID-19 positive coworkers.
