Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was working in a community hospital on the medical surgical floor where she was assigned as an observer for patients who were at risk of falling. The employee assisted patients with non-medical tasks such as going to the bathroom. Employees were provided with an N95 respirator, face shield, gown, googles, gloves, and a head cap and were trained on the hospital's COVID-19 emergency response plan. The employee's last day of work was on December 14, when she reported that she was starting to have symptoms. The employee tested positive for COVID-19 on December19, and was hospitalized on December 24. The employee died of a heart attack from complications of the COVID-19 virus on January 21, 2021.
