Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was working for a firm that engaged in the rolling, drawing, and extrusion of aluminum. The firm made windows and doors. The employee worked as an industrial truck and tractor operator. He drove a forklift truck on the second shift within the facility. His last day worked was December 2, 2020. He began feeling ill on December 6, 2020. He was tested for COVID-19 on December 7, 2020. The results came back the following day, December 8, 2020. They were positive. On December 14, 2020, the employee was hospitalized. At 2:00 p.m. CST on January 21, 2021, he died. At about 4:15 p.m. on that same day, January 21, 2021, the firm's corporate safety manager notified OSHA. At about 2:10 p.m. on the following day, January 22, 2021, OSHA contacted the corporate safety manager to conduct a remote interview. The safety manager reported that there had been additional COVID-19 cases at the facility.
