Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 132752.015
Event: 01/24/2021
Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was working as a registered nurse (RN) at a nursing care or skilled nursing facility. Her last day worked was Friday, December 25, 2020. She clocked out at 7:22 p.m. She tested positive for COVID-19 during a biweekly COVID-19 facility-wide testing on December 28, 2020. She quarantined at home until January 10, 2021, when she was taken to TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center by ambulance. She was treated at the hospital until she died at 10:00 p.m. on January 24, 2021. Initial information indicated that although the employee did not provide care to COVID-19-positive patients, she was exposed to a COVID-19 positive coworker. There were no known cases of COVID-19 in her immediate family. She might have had symptoms as early as December 24, 2020.
