Investigation Summary

On December 27, 2020, an employee who worked for a general medical can surgical hospital died from COVID-19. The employee reported experiencing COVID-19 symptoms on December 23, 2020, and was advised to take a COVID-19 test. The employee took the test on December 23, 2020, and received a positive test result that same day. The employee was instructed to quarantine 14 days. During that time, coworkers (employee health nurses) reached out several times and received no response (leaving messages). On an unspecified date, a family member informed the employer that the employee had died. The employee's specific cause of death was not known at the time the narrative was written. The employee was known to wear all required PPE to perform her job and the employer reported it was not work connected.
