Truck driver fractures leg and hip when struck by falling lo

At 7:27 a.m. on November 24, 2020, Employee #1, a truck driver employed by ECMD, Inc., was delivering a load of palletized wood products to a retail home improvement store. The employee removed the curtain and load strap from the driver's side of the trailer. As the employee passed to the passenger side, a load of wood products from the second level of the trailer unexpectedly fell onto him. The exact cause of the load's fall was undetermined. The employee sustained fractures to his legs and hip due to the incident and was hospitalized for treatment. Sac. Metro Fire Department reported the accident to DOSH on November 24, 2020, at 12:25 PM. The employer reported the accident on November 25, 2020, at 7:44 a.m., which was not within the required reporting timeframe. DOSH conducted an accident investigation on December 8, 2020, at 10:45 am. No citations for accident-related violations were issued.
