Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee had worked as a Dietary Supervisor in the kitchen of a retirement community. The employee had been responsibile for changing diet orders, assisting with meal preparation, serving meals in the health center, keeping track of inventory, ordering supplies, and making sure employees were fulfilling their responsibilities. On November 9, 2020, the employee began to experience COVID-19 related symptoms. The employee did not return to work after that date and tested positive for COVID-19 on November 12, 2020. On November 16, 2020, the employee was hospitalized. The employee remained hospitalized until her death at 8:00 a.m. on November 27, 2020. The employee had been provided the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the tasks performed. But, there were indications that employer was not fully compliant with the requirements of a written Respiratory Protection Program.
