Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 131369.015
Event: 11/28/2020
Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

At 12:30 a.m. on November 28, 2020, an employee who had worked as the RN Team Lead over the PODS ICU died of COVID-19 infection. The PODS ICU contained one unit that was a COVID-19 overflow unit. The COVID-19 overflow unit had been in use the two weeks prior to the employee's diagnosis. The employee may have contracted COVID-19 infection as a result of exposure to a coworker who tested positive for COVID-19 while on the site. Additional details leading up to exposure are not indicated in the narrative, but the employer considered the case to be work related.
