Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 136976.015
Event: 11/06/2020
Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was working at a detention center as a case manager providing services to link inmates with resources in the community such as jobs, housing, and health care upon their release. Counseling sessions were held to assist with these services via video conferences and zoom meetings. The employee began to experience symptoms on October 29, 2020, and he was sent home early. The employee was tested on October 30, and results returned positive on November 1. The employee's symptoms worsened and he was hospitalized on November 6, 2020, and eventually died two weeks later. Two coworkers, who also worked as case managers in the same office, tested positive around the same time as the employee. Both quarantined at home and recovered from their infections.
