Two Employees with COVID-19 infection are hospitalized, one

At 9:00 a.m. on January 21, 2021, Employee #1, a Corrections Officer who worked Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in a State Prison, died from COVID-19. The employee last worked on January 5, 2021, and tested positive for COVID-19 on January 6, 2021. The employer was unaware if the employee had taken any time off prior to his illness and there is no hospitalization date indicated in the narrative. Employee #1 was determined to be most likely acquired in the community. Employee #2, a Licensed Vocational Nurse, who had medicated COVID-19 positive inmates in the quarantine unit, also contracted COVID-19. Employee #2 most likely contracted COVID-19 at work and was hospitalized. The employer did not have Adequate Aerosol Transmissible Diseases policies and procedures in place.
