Investigation Summary
On September 2, 2020, an employee who had been working as anesthesiologist at an ambulatory surgical center died of COVID-19. The center performed surgical procedures only on patients who were tested and confirmed to be COVID-19 negative. The employee was tested and diagnosed with COVID-19. Prior to the employee's illness, none of his coworkers exhibited any COVID-19 related symptoms or had been found to be COVID-19 positive. The employer did not receive any notices of patients testing positive for COVID-19 post surgical procedure. The employee did not perform any emergency procedures.
