Investigation Summary
On September 12, 2020, two employees who all provided care to patients at a hospital were reported positive for COVID-19. Employee #1 reported to work on June 25, 2020 and reported feeling hot. She went to Emergency Room (ER) where they administered a COVID-19 test which was positive. Employee #1 was admitted to the hospital due to pneumonia. On September 12, 2020, Employee #2 reported to the ER with shortness of breath, body aches, and abdominal discomfort. The ER administered a COVID-19 test which was positive. Employee #2 was discharged that same day. She self-quarantined but her symptoms gradually worsened with vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. On September 19, 2020, Employee #2 returned to the hospital, where she was admitted. Employee #3 who also provided patient care at the hospital was hospitalized with COVID-19, but the details are not indicated in the narrative. Employee #3 was possibly hospitalized on October 9, 2020. The employer did not have Adequate Aerosol Transmissible Diseases policies and procedures in place.
