Employee Is Struck On Head By Rider Roller, Later Dies

At 8:13 a.m. on October 5, 2020, an employee was preparing to string cast extrus ion line 25. The employee went through the light curtains and ducked under the w inder spindle. The employee proceeded further into the machine and stepped onto the inbound roll changer safety mat that was in front of the spindle. The employ ee found the spindle rope tangled and needed to untangle it to continue threadin g the line. When the employee stepped on the safety mat, the carriage moved forw ard causing the rider roller to fall forward and strike the employee on the head . The employee then fell to the floor striking his head on the ground. The emplo yee was transported to the hospital and died from the head trauma three days lat er.
