Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

On September 14, 2020, an employee who had worked as a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) died of COVID-19 infection. The employee had worked the night shift at a regional hospital on the Venous Access Team, specializing in locating patient's veins and inserting IVs and pic lines. Hospital services included treating patients who were symptomatic for COVID-19. The employee worked throughout the hospital including the hot floors, ICU unit, and was involved in providing healthcare to COVID-19 positive patients and persons under investigation for COVID-19 infection. The employee was placed off work on August 22, 2020, after experiencing breathing difficulty, including shortness of breath. The employee was tested for COVID-19 on August 23, 2020 and was confirmed positive on August 24, 2020.
