Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

On August 3, 2020, Employee # 1 was working. The employer was notified by a coworker that Employee # 1 had tested positive for COVID-19. The employer conducted contact tracing and identified 10 employees and two contract-cleaning employees that may have had close contact with the coworker. Employee # 1 was one of the 10 employees identified as possibly being exposed to Covid-19 from the coworker. The employer asked Employee # 1 to quarantine and provided instructions on how to get tested. Employee # 1 was instructed by the employer to self-monitor for symptoms, check his email for updates, and to provide the employer with information on the status of his testing and symptomology every 2 to 3 days to determine when Employee # 1 could return to work. Employee # 1 began experiencing symptoms and on August 7, 2020, tested positive for COVID-19. On August 13, 2020, the employer learned that the injured had been hospitalized, and on August 26, 2020, the employer was notified by the girlfriend of Employee # 1 that he had died on August 26, 2020, most likely due to COVID-19. DOSH was notified of the death of Employee # 1 on August 27, 2020 at 7:49 pm. DOSH was notified of the hospitalization on September 18, 2020, via a letter submitted by Counsel for the employer.
