Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 130885.015
Event: 07/25/2020
Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized

An employee was working as a heavy equipment operator for a county public works site where solid waste was dumped by the public. The employee had a fever, cough, chills, and diarrhea the week of July 19, 2020, and tested positive for COVID-19 on July 20, 2020. The employee started to feel worse so he went to a local medical center on July 25, 2020 and was admitted. The employee stayed three nights in the hospital and was discharged on July 28, 2020, as his symptoms had subsided by then. The employee returned to work on August 18, 2020, once his cough was gone. Through contact tracing, it was determined that the employee had been around his child's mother who was COVID-19 positive and his daughter who tested positive a couple days after he had.
