Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 24, 2020, an employee on July 2, 2020, who was a Sheriff Technician started a two-week scheduled vacation after working at the Coroner's Bureau. While on vacation, the Sheriff Technician's child was confirmed to have COVID-19 on approximately July 14, 2020, and experienced no symptoms. The Sheriff Technician shared the same residence as their child and had frequent close contacts with them prior to traveling. On July 15, 2020, while traveling, the employee started to exhibit symptoms, which included a sore throat and a stomach ache. On July 18, 2020, the employee had a telehealth video appointment with the physician due to difficulty breathing, and the employee was transported by EMS to the hospital, where the employee was admitted due to COVID-19 related symptoms. On July 24, 2020, the employee died due to complications with COVID-19.
