Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on July 23, 2020, an employee, who was a Deputy Sheriff, reported to the employer that his spouse was recently diagnosed and hospitalized with COVID-19. The Deputy Sheriff had exposure and was experiencing mild symptoms. The employee's last day of work was on June 19, 2020, and he remained out of work for precautionary removal. The employee had a telehealth visit with their physician on June 23, 2020, when he was experiencing fever, cough, and chills. On June 24, 2020, the employee received a COVID-19 test and on June 26, 2020, the employee reported to the employer that the test came back positive. On June 29, 2020, the employee was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted due to worsening shortness of breath. On June 30, 2020, the employee's spouse reported to the employer that the employee was transported to the hospital and was in a medically induced coma in the ICU. On July 23, 2020, the employee died due to complications with COVID-19.
