Investigation Summary
On June 1, 2020, an employee was working at a residential elderly care facility. On May 20, 2020, the employee had contact with a coworker at the site address who was exhibiting signs and symptoms of COVID-19. The coworker was experiencing body chills and sore throat and was speaking with the employee within 5 feet while the Caregiver was not wearing a face-covering or other source control measures. The employee was tested for COVID-19 on May 29, 2020, with the entire community at the facility and received a positive test result for COVID-19 on June 1, 2020. The employee was removed from the facility and began to quarantine at home. On June 2, 2020, the employee began experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19 including shortness of breath and was admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU). The employee was discharged on June 16, 2020.
