Investigation Summary
On May 7, 2020, an employee (Lead Nurse) who had been caring for inmates at a correctional facility reportedly died due to COVID-19 infection. The employee had been wearing a surgical mask during her duties, but still tested positive for COVID-19 illness on April 16, 2020, and was hospitalized for 19 days before her death. The facility did not have adequate respirator protection program elements in place.
