Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

At 6:30 p.m. on April 18, 2020, an employee who had reportedly contracted COVID-19 died. The employee had shown up for work on April 17, 2020, but after working for approximately 3.5 hours he felt nauseous and was sent home. The employee did not report any COVID-19 related symptoms such as shortness of breath or an elevated temperature. On April 18, 2020, the employee was found dead in his bed by his common-law wife. According to media reports, the death was COVID-19 related; however, the employer reported having no knowledge of COVID-19 relatedness and stated that they are unaware of any COVID-19 testing done on the employee prior to his death. The employee did not come in contact with or work near any of the known positive COVID-19 coworkers. On April 20, 2020, the employer was told by relatives that the employee died due to a heart attack and he had underlying health issues.
