Investigation Summary
An employee was primarily responsible for staff scheduling but when necessary she would fill in at the nurses station, stock supplies, and change out resident oxygen tubes. While working the week of March 16 -20, 2020, the employee exhibited signs and symptoms of illness including coughing, congestion, and difficulty breathing resulting in her leaving early on two of her scheduled work days. The employee's last day of work was March 20, 2020. The employee called in sick on March 23, 2020, and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 29, 2020. The employee died at 11:10 p.m. on April 13, 2020, due to complications associated with COVID-19 pneumonia - suspected cardiopulmonary arrest due to worsening acute respiratory distress syndrome and hypoxemia.
