Investigation Summary
At 5:10 p.m. on January 24, 2020, an employee was operating an electric arc furnace when there was an an explosion inside the furnace. As a result, molten metal and flames were ejected from the furnace and struck an employee (Furnace Operator). The employee was 40 seconds into a pour from the furnace when the explosion occured. The employee was hospitalized to treat serious burns to her upper body.
