Employee is killed when struck by falling tree

At 3:45 p.m. on January 9, 2020, Employee #1 and coworkers were engaged in tree felling operations. Employee #1, who was operating a chainsaw, made a back cut to a tree. The tree began to fall, and the coworkers gave verbal warning to Employee #1, who began to walk along a designated escape route but then paused. The falling tree, after hitting the ground, bucked upward, and the butt of the tree struck Employee #1 in the head. He was killed.
