Employee fractures spine in fall from ladder

At 11:00 a.m. on June 4, 2019, Employee #1 and a coworker, employed by an air conditioning service, were repairing an air conditioning unit at a one-story commercial building. They were using a fixed ladder in the attic space to access the unit. While climbing up the ladder, Employee #1 fell. He telephoned his coworker, who had left to purchase a part needed for the repair. Emergency services were called and transported the employee to the hospital. He was admitted for treatment of a fracture to the lower lumbar spine.
