Investigation Summary

Event: 03/13/2019
Employee suffers burn to hand during plating process

At 3:35 p.m. on March 13, 2019, during the plating process, an employee was dipping hooks into one of the tanks, containing hot caustic solution. The hook he was holding got caught on the parts barrel, which was in the tank, rotating slowly with parts. The employee had time to let go of the hook but he did not. His hand was pulled into the hot water and was burned. The employer has since changed the procedure for hook cleaning so that they are not manually lowered into the tank. The employee was hospitalized.
