Event: 02/27/2019
Employee fractures fingers while removing idler roll on coat

At 8:15 a.m. on February 27, 2019, Employee #1 was removing a 6 foot long, 400 lb. idler roll on the rewind section of the coating line equipment. A fork-truck with an extending boom arm was used with a choked sling around the roller to lift it. When the end of the roll came free from the greased bearing, the roll jolted upwards six inches, pinning Employee #1's left pinky, ring, and middle finger against the structure of the equipment. The employee suffered three fractured fingers on the left hand. The employee was hospitalized.
