Employee Amputates Finger And Damages Two Others When Caught

At 2:00 a.m. on January 28, 2019, and employee was cleaning the screw conveyor w hile the machine was in motion. The employee was using a rag which was caught i n the conveyor and pulled her right hand into the machine. The employee was abl e to pull the emergency cord on the machine and several coworkers came to assist her. The machine had to be disassembled before the employee could be extricate d and she amputated her pinky from her hand and sustained severe damage to her r ing and middle fingers. The employee was transported to the Regional Medical Ce nter, where she was hospitalized.
