Investigation Summary
At 11:00 a.m. on October 19, 2018, Employee # 1 was operating a John Deere Tractor (Model 6230, ID#7) a Flory 850 pick-up machine and a Jackrabbit gondola (Serial Number 0236). He was tasked with picking up almonds that had been swept to the center of the rows. Employee # 1 noticed that almonds were flying out of the gondola. He exited the tractor and climbed up on the corner of the gondola nearest to the pick-up machine. He fell into the gondola and his right leg made contact with the auger. Employee # 1's leg was too damaged and required amputation below his knee. He was hospitalized.
