Employee amputates thumb when caught between drive belt and

At 1:45 p.m. on July 5, 2018, an employee and a coworker were unplugging a bagging machine. The employee was pulling on the motor-driven belts to advance the machine to clear the obstruction when his coworker prodded the clay obstruction from the machine. The employee caught his left thumb in the sheave and amputated it. The employee was hospitalized.
