Employee Catches Finger With Rotating Valve And Amputates In

At 11:30 a.m. on April 26, 2018, an employee was replacing the chaff collection drum on the after-burn cyclone on Roaster #Z4 and exposed the energized rotary a irlock feeder. The employee removed a full chaff collection drum when he reache d up into the duct work to clean out any built up chaff and his right index fing er came into contact with the unguarded rotating valve of the rotary airlock fee der. The employee amputated his right hand's index finger when caught by the ro tary valve rotating inside the valve housing. The employee was hospitalized.
