Investigation Summary
At 7:45 p.m. on October 21, 2017, an employee was cleaning and sanitizing a DS 41 Recirc Laser Reject Auger for raisin production. The employee reached his hand into the auger to remove some debris that would not come out when sprayed with water and caught his left forearm just above his wrist in the auger. The employee partially severed his left hand, wrist, and part of his forearm. The employee was hospitalized for three days.
