Investigation Summary
At 8:10 a.m. on November 18, 2017, an employee was carrying a rack of parts to a rinse tank when he slipped and fell. As he fell, the employee tried to catch himself and put his left arm into a chemical tank that contained a corrosive solution of Black Nickel Oxide that was at 285 degrees Fahrenheit. The employee also splashed chemicals onto his neck and back, suffering third degree thermal and chemical burns to his left arm as well as second and third degree burns to his neck and back. The employee was transported to Fountain Valley Hospital and then transferred to UCI Medical Center for over two weeks.
