Investigation Summary
At 12:45 a.m. on November 15, 2017, Employee #1 and Coworker #1, employed by an infrastructure construction company, were working at a bridge rehab project. They were working from inside a personnel cage/basket suspended by a Carrydeck Crane over the side of the bridge. The cage unintentionally dropped 20 feet before coming to a sudden stop approximately 30 feet above the ground. Emergency services were called, and Employee #1 was transported to the hospital. He was admitted and treated for fractures to both legs.
