Employee Was Struck And Crushed By Stone Slabs And Later Req

At 1:30 p.m. on October 5, 2017, an employee was setting a bundle of soapstone s labs on one of the client's A-Frame racks stationed next to the truck mounted cr ane. The employee disengaged one end of two 19 foot 2 inch polyester fabric sli ngs from the crane hook and pulled the slings out from under the load. The empl oyee was struck by and crushed under the slabs weighing approximately 6,481 poun ds when they fell. The employee suffered crushing injuries to his pelvis and le gs which resulted in the amputation of his right leg. The employee was transpor ted to and treated at the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa, California .
