Investigation Summary

Employee #1, age 20, and a coworker were raising scaffold planks. Employee #1 noticed that the overlap of two planks was not correct after they were raised. He was attempting to reposition the planks when he stepped on one of them and lost his balance as the plank moved, falling approximately 24 ft between the scaffold and the wall of the building. The back of his coat became caught on one of the scaffold support arms, stopping his fall approximately 3 ft before he would have struck the ground. Employee #1 sustained injuries, for which he was treated and released.
